October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Every year, about 2.3 million women worldwide are diagnosed with breast cancer.
Thanks to screening programmes and medical progress, the five-year survival rate now exceeds 88%. Yet, recovery doesn't always mean a full return to well-being.

After treatment, many women experience lasting side effects such as lymphedema, pain, fatigue, and tension, challenges that deeply affect daily life and self-confidence.
This is where icoon steps in: to accompany women through rehabilitation, helping them restore harmony, balance, and a sense of comfort within their bodies.

A continuous commitment to women's well-being

For years, icoone has been working side by side with doctors, physiotherapists, and specialised centres to make its technology part of post-oncological recovery paths.

Key collaborations include:

  • Dr. Jocelyne Rolland, a leading physiotherapist specialising in oncological rehabilitation, who designed specific protocols to treat outcomes after breast cancer, supporting both functional and aesthetic recovery for women.
  • The Onconauti Association in Bologna, a national benchmark for integrated oncological rehabilitation, united with icoone in the mission to help women regain well-being and confidence after cancer
  • Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, developing programmes that improve skin elasticity, scars, and fibrosis after surgery

At the heart of this commitment lies a simple idea: technology should serve people, offering gentle, safe, and scientifically validated support to every woman on her path to healing.

Clinical results that make a difference

The Oncona Association are conducting an observational study on icoone Laser Med in women who had undergone breast surgery and suffered from lymphedema or chronic pain.

The outcomes from the first pool of patients evaluation were encouraging:

  • Pain reduction in 66% of participants, including two cases of complete remission after three months
  • Decreased swelling in all the cases
  • Immediate relief and lightness reported by most patients after the very first session

Crucially, no side effects were observed, confirming the safety and gentleness of the treatment, even for the most delicate conditions.

Many women described the experience as a turning point: softer, more elastic skin, a lighter body, and above all, a renewed sense of serenity and self-connection.

icoone Laser Med at the 2025 Onconauti National Congress

icoone will be present at the 13th Oncona National Congress “From Diagnosis to Life After Cancer: Oncologists in the Lead, Integrated Therapies at the Core, Patients in Action”.”, held on October 24-25, 2025 in Bologna (onconauti.it).

During the event, the icoone team will share its experience in oncological rehabilitation and present the results achieved in collaboration with healthcare professionals who support women throughout their recovery journey.
It will be an opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships, and promote a more integrated and compassionate approach to care.

True healing doesn't end when therapy stops, it continues through care, connection, and the restoration of balance.
For icoone, this is what innovation truly means: creating technologies that respect the body, honour its sensitivity, and contribute to a more human and empathetic kind of medicine.
